Why does a product have to be dry before it is packed?

  • A wet product weakens cardboard and egg trays: the water soaks through the packaging
  • Labels do not stick to a wet surface
  • On cans, remaining water causes oxidation and rust
  • A dry surface gives a more reliable seal

  1. Which vacuum techniques are used in the packaging industry?
    "
    • Vacuum packing: evacuating, sealing and protective gas such as nitrogen for shelf life and colour retention
    • Drying before packing and labelling: air knife with blower
    • Vacuum lifting: picking up boxes, sheets and products with suction cups

  3. Side channel blower or vacuum pump for picking up packaging material?
    "

The choice follows from the material being picked up, not from the machine.

    MaterialPropertySuitable technique
Cardboard, paper, filter materialPorous: air flows through the materialSide channel blower, high flow and less deep vacuum
Glass, sheet steel, filmNon-porous: seals off completelyCompact vacuum pump, little volume and strong suction

  4. Can DOVAC replace or service the vacuum pump in my existing packaging machine?
    "

Yes. Many packaging machines arrive from Italy, Germany or the United States with a pump fitted as standard.

    • DOVAC is the Benelux agent for the brands it represents: service, parts and replacement pumps without going through the machine builder, and therefore without an extra margin
    • For new machines the preferred pump can be fitted by the machine builder on request
