Blowers for swimming pool & wellness
Blowers for swimming pool & wellness
A jacuzzi without bubbles is a disappointment, both for the bather and for the operator. Behind every bubble pool, every bubble lounger and every sand filter is a blower that has to deliver exactly enough air at exactly the right pressure. DOVAC specialises in calculating, selecting and supplying blowers for swimming pools, jacuzzis and wellness installations. We supply not only the blower, but also all the accessories that make the installation safe, reliable and energy-efficient.
Where the blower does the work
In swimming pools and wellness facilities, air technology is used in a limited but important number of places: the aeration of jacuzzis and whirlpools, of bubble loungers and of sand filter installations for water filtration.
In aeration, a blower forces air through pipework under the seat or floor, with small holes of around 3 millimetres through which the air rises as bubbles. The blower itself stands in a dry plant room and in effect keeps blowing the pipework clean; in a well-designed installation, chlorinated water does not flow back into the blower.

The problem: blowers that are not calculated for the pool
The right blower is a calculation in which everything counts: the number of people and therefore the length of the aerated seat, the number and diameter of the holes, the water depth above the outlets (around 30 cm for a bubble lounger, 60 cm or more for a jacuzzi) and the distance between the plant room and the pool. A blower 3 metres from the pool requires a different specification from one much further away. If that calculation is skipped or made too roughly, the result will not be right.
Common mistakes and challenges
One of the biggest challenges is sizing the installation correctly. A blower that is too small delivers insufficient air, while a blower that is too large causes turbulent flow, extra noise and unnecessary energy consumption.
In addition, installations regularly lack proper protection. If outlets become blocked, the back pressure can rise sharply and the blower can overheat or burn out. A pressure relief valve is therefore essential.
Other common points to watch are:
- Water flowing back during pressure changes;
- Insufficient filtration of the intake air;
- Noise nuisance at start-up;
- Incorrect positioning of the blower, pipework or outlets;
- Insufficient allowance for varying load and use.
Many failures therefore do not arise from the blower itself, but from incorrect calculation, installation or protection of the system as a whole. With a correct calculation and the right protective components, many of these problems can be prevented at the design stage.
Our possibilities

Suction filters
Everything a blower or pump draws in ends up in your process. A suction filter stops dust and dirt before they reach the machine, protecting service life and result.

Side channel blowers
Side channel blowers move large air volumes, suiting aeration, conveying and porous materials. Oil-free and low-maintenance, from compact single-stage to two-stage models, including ATEX.

Turbo blowers
Turbo blowers deliver a steady airflow at high efficiency and low noise. Direct drive matches output to demand, cutting energy use substantially.
Benefits for your business
- A properly calculated and protected installation delivers the bubble effect the pool was designed for, year after year, without surprises.
- Because heat and energy are a major cost item in swimming pools, DOVAC also moves with the efficiency requirements: the suppliers in the programme are switching from IE1/IE2 motors to the more economical IE3 and IE4 classes.
- When replacing a defective blower, DOVAC looks not only at an equivalent alternative, but also at whether a different technology could be more economical and more cost-effective.
- A properly calculated installation also means less maintenance, a longer service life of the blower and greater operational reliability.
The solution: a calculated blower with the right accessories
For each project, DOVAC calculates which blower delivers the desired bubble effect and recommends as standard the components that protect the installation:
- Intake filters, so that dust from the ambient air does not end up in the pool water
- Safety and pressure relief valves, which let the blower blow off when the back pressure is too high
- Non-return valves, so that water cannot run into the blower through the pipework
- Silencers and sound-insulating enclosures, where the start-up noise would be audible
These accessories remain options for the customer to decide on, but they appear in every quotation for good reason.
Every installation is different. That is why DOVAC looks not only at the required air capacity, but also at pipe lengths, pressure losses, noise level, energy consumption and the operating conditions. The result is a solution that keeps working reliably for years.
