Why does an irrigation water basin need aeration?
"
- A grower collects rainwater in a basin to irrigate the crops in the greenhouse
- That water has to keep moving: the bacteria then stay alive and the water stays clean
- Without movement and oxygen the water starts to smell and algae develop
"
Which blower suits basin aeration in horticulture?
"
- Selection based on basin depth (counterpressure), required air flow and pipe length
- Shallow with high flow: a side channel blower
- Deeper basins: a roots blower
- In continuous duty an energy-efficient version pays back quickly
"
What should I consider when installing outdoors or in a greenhouse?
"
- Intake filter against dust, pollen and dirt from the surroundings
- Check valve, so that no water flows back into the blower
- Weatherproof or acoustic enclosure when installed outdoors
- Pressure relief valve as protection if the pipework silts up
